(SEATTLE, WA) - The Seattle Mariners made it five wins in a row as they blanked the Chicago Cubs 2-0.
Jason Vargas allowed four hits over seven innings to pick up the win, improving to 6-2 on the season.
Franklin Gutierrez provided the game's offense, slamming a two-run homer off Cubs starter Ryan Dempster in the bottom of the second.
Dempster allowed five hits and struck out eight over eight innings in falling to 5-6.
