(CLEVELAND, OH) - Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched eight innings of shutout ball as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians 4-1.
Kevin Youkilis put Boston on the board with a sacrifice fly in the first off Indians starter Fausto Carmona.
David Ortiz' fielder's choice grounder in the third made it 2-0 Red Sox.
A Victor Martinez sacrifice fly in the seventh and a Bill Hall RBI single in the eighth gave Boston a 4-0 lead.
Matsuzaka allowed four hits to improve to 5-2.
Austin Kearns accounted for the lone Cleveland run with a solo homer off Daniel Bard in the ninth.
Carmona took the loss to fall to 4-5.
