(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The battle for the job of backing up Peyton Manning with the Indianapolis Colts has a new competitor.
The Colts were awarded quarterback Tom Brandstater off waivers from the Denver Broncos on Monday.
Brandstater was a sixth-round pick of the broncos in 2009.
He became expendable when Denver acquired Brady Quinn from the Cleveland Browns during the offseason and then selected Tim Tebow in the first round of April's NFL draft.
The Colts now have five quarterbacks on the roster with Brandstater joining Curtis Painter, Drew Willy and Tim Hiller in the battle to backup Manning.
