(LOS ANGELES, CA) - Manny Ramirez’ RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning provided the only run of the game as the Los Angeles Dodgers edged the St. Louis Cardinals 1-0.
Neither starter was around to figure in the decision.
Hiroki Kuroda allowed four hits over seven shutout innings for LA while Chris Carpenter allowed six hits over seven innings for the Cardinals.
Rafael Furcal led off the bottom of the eighth with a single off Cardinals reliever Trevor Miller.
Miller retired Matt Kemp before Andre Ethier singled with Furcal advancing to second.
Kyle McClellan relieved Miller and gave up the ground-rule double to Ramirez that scored Furcal.
The Cardinals have lost three in a row and failed to regain sole possession of first place in the NL Central.
They remain tied for the division lead with Cincinnati.
