(CHICAGO, IL) - Alfonso Soriano homered twice to back a solid pitching effort from Ted Lilly as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-1.
Starlin Castro gave Chicago the lead with a sacrifice fly in the second before Soriano launched a solo shot off Pittsburgh starter Jeff Karstens in the fourth.
Ryan Doumit put the Pirates on the board when he touched Lilly for a solo shot in the fifth, but Soriano got the run back with his second homer off Karstens in the sixth.
Lilly allowed a run on six hits over seven innings to improve to 3-6.
Karstens took the loss to fall to 2-and-3.
