(MILWAUKEE, WI) - Scott Rolen and Ramon Hernandez drove in three runs each as the Cincinnati Reds pounded the Milwaukee Brewers 12-4.
Brandon Phillips also drove in a pair of runs as Cincinnati's win combined with the Cardinals' loss to the Mets pulls the Reds into a virtual tie with St. Louis atop the NL Central.
Yovani Gallardo took the loss for Milwaukee, but contributed most of the offense by hitting a two-run home run off Reds starter Edinson Volquez.
Perhaps Milwaukee's most effective pitcher on the night was infielder Joe Inglett, who pitched a perfect ninth inning with pitches that were in the 50 mile-per-hour range.
The Brewers had their five-game winning streak snapped.
