(BOSTON, MA) - Adrian Beltre’s fourth inning grand slam helped propel the Boston Red Sox to a 6-2 win over the Cleveland Indians.
Shin-Soo Choo gave Cleveland the early lead with a solo homer in the top of the first off Boston starter Daisuke Matsuzaka.
Matsuzaka settled down after that, allowing just four more hits as he went eight innings.
JD Drew added a two-run single in the eighth to give Boston a 6-1 lead with Luis Valbuena driving in the Indians' other run with a single in the ninth.
Matsuzaka improves to 8-3 while Josh Tomlin took the loss for Cleveland, falling to 1-1.
Boston's win gave them a split of the four-game series.
