(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) - Pat Burrell’s solo homer in the bottom of the eighth was the difference as the San Francisco Giants edged the Chicago Cubs 5-4.
Burrell also had a two-run single in the first as the Giants jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
Marlon Byrd hit a solo homer in the fourth and the cubs scored twice more in the sixth to tie the game.
Aaron Rowand put San Francisco ahead 4-3 with a solo homer off Cubs starter Tom Gorzelanny in the sixth, but Tyler Colvin tied the game again with a solo shot off Giants starter Barry Zito in the seventh.
Burrell hit his game-winner off Justin Berg, who took the loss for Chicago.
