(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The city of Indianapolis has been chosen to host the inaugural Big Ten Championship football game next season.
Conference Commissioner Jim Delany released a statement Thursday evening saying that Lucas Oil Stadium will host the game in December of 2011.
An agreement between the Big Ten and the Indiana Sports Corporation still needs to be finalized. Indianapolis was one of several venues interested in hosting the game.
The agreement is for the 2011 game only.
The Big Ten has not decided whether to play the championship game at a permanent site or to rotate the game's location.
