Last updated on Tuesday, August 24, 2010

(PITTSBURGH, PA) - Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning as the St. Louis Cardinals cruised to a 10-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Pittsburgh starter Ross Ohlendorf left after throwing only eight pitches due to tightness in his right shoulder.

He allowed a walk to Skip Schumaker and a single to John Jay before Pujols rocketed reliever Sean Gallagher's first pitch into the center field bullpen.

Yadier Molina drove in two runs for the Cardinals as Kyle Lohse picked up the win, improving to 2-5.

Garrett Jones drove in the Pirates' runs with a two-run blast off Lohse in the sixth.
