(CINCINNATI, OH) - Brandon Phillips used the fifth inning to send the Cincinnati Reds to a 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Braves shortstop Alex Gonzalez got the team on the board in the second inning with a solo home run. In the fifth, Phillips hit a triple, sending Ramon Hernandez in for a run.
An error by Gonzalez off a grounder from Orlando Cabrera allowed Phillips to score the tiebreaking run.
Pitcher Edinson Volquez pitched five innings for Cincy, striking out seven, walking five and hitting one batter.
