(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) - The San Francisco Giants scored five runs in the first inning off Cincinnati starter Edinson Volquez en route to an 11-2 win over the Reds.
Aubrey Huff put the Giants ahead for good with a two-run double in the first and later added a solo homer.
Pablo Sandoval drove in three runs with Angel Torres adding a two-run homer in support of Matt Cain. Cain allowed a two-run triple to Scott Rolen and not much else, evening his record at 10-10.
With the loss, the Reds lead over St. Louis in the NL Central dips to two and-a-half games.
Cincinnati also lost a pair of outfielders to injury as Jim Edmonds left with an oblique strain and Laynce Nix suffered a sprained ankle.
