(CHICAGO, IL) - The Minnesota Twins pounded another nail in Chicago’s coffin as they pounded the White Sox 9-3.
Joe Mauer broke a scoreless tie with a three-run homer in the top of the fifth.
Minnesota would score three more runs in the sixth before Carlos Quentin put the Sox on the board with a two-run shot off Minnesota starter Brian Duensing.
The Twins scored three more runs in the seventh, two coming on a single by Jim Thome.
Duensing got the win to move to 9-2 while Gavin Floyd took the loss for Chicago to fall to 10-13.
Minnesota opens up an eight-game lead over Chicago in the AL Central and drops their magic number to clinch the division to ten.
