(SAN DIEGO, CA) - Carlos Zambrano outdueled Tim Stauffer as the Chicago Cubs blanked the San Diego Padres 1-0.
Zambrano threw seven shutout innings, allowing three hits to improve to 10-6. He is 7-0 in his last ten starts.
Stauffer also went seven innings, giving up an RBI single to Blake DeWitt in the seventh among the five hits he allowed in falling to 5-5.
With the loss, the Padres fall a game behind San Francisco in the NL West and are a half-game behind Atlanta in the NL Wild Card standings.
