(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Tyler Colvin hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the seventh as the Chicago Cubs completed a three-game sweep in St. Louis, defeating the Cardinals 7-3.
Aramis Ramirez put the game out of reach with a two-run shot in the eighth as the Cubs pushed their archrival closer to the brink in the NL Central race.
Carlos Zambrano picked up the win, allowing an earned run on four hits over six innings to improve to 9-7.
Chris Carpenter took the loss for St. Louis, falling to 15-7.
With the loss, the Cardinals fall eight games behind Cincinnati in the NL Central.
The Reds' magic number for clinching the division is down to ten.
