(JUPITER, FL) - The St. Louis Cardinals and All-Star First Baseman Albert Pujols have agreed to a Wednesday deadline for contract extension talks.
The deadline has been set for noon, Eastern Time.
Pujols rejected a contract proposal from the club two weeks ago and no progress has been reported since then.
Pujols is entering the final year of his deal and says he does not want any distractions involving his contract once he reports to spring training tomorrow.
The 31-year-old Pujols hit 42 home runs with 117 runs batted in last season, finishing second in the National League MVP balloting to Reds First Baseman Joey Votto.
