(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Izod IndyCar Series announced Monday that race fields will be capped at 26 cars for all races except for the Indianapolis 500 and the season finale at Las Vegas.
The 500 will maintain its traditional 33-car field while the field at Las Vegas will be capped at 30 cars to accommodate additional entries participating in the five-million-dollar challenge.
In events where there are more than 26 entrants, there will be two provisional spots available to drivers not making the field during qualifying.
