(DAYTON, OH) - For the first time in ten years, the Notre Dame women’s basketball team is headed to the Final Four.
The second-seeded Fighting Irish knocked off top-seed Tennessee 73-59 to win the Dayton Regional and advance to Sunday's national semifinals in Indianapolis.
Skylar Diggins scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Irish with Nataly Novosel finishing with 17 and Becca Bruszewski adding 13 as Notre Dame beat the Lady Vols for the first time in history after going 0-20 previously against Tennessee.
Shekinna Stricken and Taber Spani led the Lady Vols with 13 points apiece as Tennessee finishes its season at 34-3.
The Irish will take on the winner of tonight's Philadelphia Region final between number-one overall seed Connecticut and Duke.
