(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Purdue Athletic Department officials say they have demonstrated the university’s commitment to the men’s basketball program and Head Coach Matt Painter.
Painter is currently in Florida on vacation and was scheduled to meet with University of Missouri officials there on Tuesday.
Missouri is looking for somebody to replace Mike Anderson, who left to take over as head coach at Arkansas.
Speculation on why Painter, a former Purdue player, would consider leaving for Missouri has centered on Painter's salary and the overall funding of the men's basketball program.
Anderson turned down an extension at Missouri that included a salary in the area of two-million dollars per year.
Painter's salary is in the neighborhood of 1.3 million dollars annually including incentives.
