(UNDATED) - The Major League Baseball season opens today.
The defending National League Central Division Champion Cincinnati Reds face the Milwaukee Brewers this afternoon at Great America Ball Park.
The Reds' starting rotation is a little battered with Johnny Cueto and Homer Bailey shelved with arm problems and Bronson Arroyo battling mononucleosis.
Edinson Volquez gets the start today against Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo.
The St. Louis cardinals also open their season at home as they face the San Diego Padres this afternoon.
The Redbirds will be without one of their key starting pitchers as Adam Wainwright underwent "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow and will miss the season.
Chris Carpenter starts for St. Louis against the Padres' Tim Stauffer.
