(EVANSVILLE, IN) - The Evansville Purple Aces advanced to the second round of the College Basketball Invitational with a 77-70 win over Hofstra.
The Aces trailed for most of the first half before breaking out in the second to pick up their first postseason tournament win since knocking off Oregon State in the 1989 NCAA Tournament.
Colt Ryan led Evansville with 21 points with Jordan Jahr adding 13 as the Aces improve to 16-15.
Charles Jenkins and Mike Moore scored 14 points apiece to lead the Pride as Hofstra finishes its season at 21-12.
Evansville will face Boise State in round two on Monday night in Boise.
The Broncos eliminated Austin Peay 83-80 on Tuesday night.
