(KANSAS CITY, MO) - Melky Cabrera’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth gave the Kansas City Royals a 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians.
The Indians scored both of their runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Grady Sizemore and a run-scoring fielder's choice from Shin-Soo Choo.
Kansas City didn't score until the eighth when Jeff Francoeur drove home a run on an infield single with the bases loaded. In the ninth, the first two Royals reached base off closer Chris Perez.
Pinch runner Mike Aviles was thrown out at home on Alcides Escobar's grounder to third.
Perez then walked Chris Getz to load the bases and set up Cabrera's game winner.
With the victory, Kansas City pulls a game behind the first-place Indians in the AL Central.
