Cubs Hold On Late To Edge Astros

(HOUSTON, TX) - The Chicago Cubs scored five runs over the first four innings and held on to edge the Houston Astros 5-4.

Alfonso Soriano put Chicago on the board with a two-run double in the first.

Darwin Barney hit an RBI triple and scored on Marlon Byrd's single in the second while Byrd drove in Starlin Castro with an RBI single in the fourth.

Ryan Dempster cruised until the fifth when he gave up an RBI single to Matt Downs.

Dempster's night ended in the seventh when he gave up a solo home run to Bill Hall and a two-run shot to Angel Sanchez.

Dempster got the win to improve to 1-2 with Carlos Marmol picking up his fourth save of the season.

Houston Starter Nelson Figueroa took the loss to drop to 0-2.
