(PHOENIX, AZ) - Justin Upton and Juan Miranda hit three-run home runs, Chris Young added a two-run shot and drove in three as the Arizona Diamondbacks out slugged the St. Louis Cardinals 13-8.
The D-backs scored eight of their runs off St. Louis ace Chris Carpenter, who lasted just four innings in falling to 0-2.
Lance Berkman, David Freese and Colby Rasmus hit solo homers and drove in two runs apiece for the Redbirds, who saw their two-game win streak halted.
Arizona starter Armando Galarraga gave up five runs on nine hits over five innings, but that was good enough to get the win and improve to 2-0.
