(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Cord Phelps and Lonnie Chisenhall drove in two runs each as the Columbus Clippers got past the Indianapolis Indians 4-3 in the International League season opener for both clubs.
Phelps put the clippers on top with an RBI triple in the first and made it 2-0 Columbus with an RBI double in the fifth.
Chisenhall gave the Clippers a 4-0 lead with a two-run double in the seventh.
The Tribe scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the seventh with Gorkys Hernandez driving in two with a triple.
Jensen Lewis came in to close for Columbus, but the Indians put runners on the corners with one out.
Lewis got Pedro Ciriaco to ground into a double play to end the game.
The Tribe and the Clippers play game two of the series tonight at Victory Field.
