(CHICAGO, IL) - Edwin Jackson allowed four hits over eight innings and struck out a career-best 13 hitters as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1.
Alex Rios had a two-run double with Paul Konerko, Todd Lillibridge and Juan Pierre adding RBI singles to give the Sox the victory in their home opener.
Jackson lost his shutout bid in the eighth when he gave up a pinch-hit double to Felipe Lopez and an RBI single to Reid Brignac.
Jackson improves to 2-0 on the year.
The Rays remain winless as they fall to 0-6.
