(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Cameron Maybin tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the ninth and his eleventh-inning single led to the go-ahead run as the San Diego Padres got past the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3.
After Matt Holliday gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead with a solo homer in the eighth, Maybin forced extra innings with his shot off Cardinals Closer Ryan Franklin.
In the eleventh, Chase Headley hit a two-out single off Bryan Augenstein.
Maybin followed with a single to right.
When St. Louis Second Baseman Ryan Theriot misplayed Jon Jay's throw from the outfield, Headley scored.
It was a day to forget for Cardinals First Baseman Albert Pujols, who went 0-for-5 and grounded into three double plays.
