(ST. PETERSBURG, FL) - James Shields threw a complete-game four-hitter as the Tampa Bay Rays edged the Chicago White Sox 2-1.
The Rays jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI groundout by Felipe Lopez.
Chicago tied it in the top of the fifth with a run-scoring single but Sean Rodriguez put Tampa Bay up for good with an RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth.
Shields gave up an earned run and walked one while striking out nine to even his record at 1-1.
Chicago starter john danks took the loss to fall to 0-2 as the White Sox have lost six in a row.
