(SAN DIEGO, CA) - The St. Louis Cardinals scored two runs in the top of the ninth to get past the San Diego Padres 3-1.
Albert Pujols gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the sixth with his eighth home run of the year.
Jorge Cantu tied the game when he hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh to score Cameron Maybin from third base.
In the ninth, rookie Daniel Descalso gave the Redbirds the lead with an RBI single to right.
Ryan Theriot scored Descalso with another single to right as St. Louis won its third game in a row.
Kyle Lohse allowed an earned run in his eight innings of work to improve to 6-2.
