(CHICAGO, IL) - Rookie Daniel Descalso’s two-run single with two out in the top of the eighth inning gave the St. Louis cardinals a 6-4 win over the Chicago Cubs in the opener of their three-game series at Wrigley Field.
The Redbirds led 4-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh when Chicago tied the game with a Carlos Pena sacrifice fly and a game-tying RBI single by Starlin Castro.
St. Louis loaded the bases off Cubs reliever Kerry Wood when Descalso came through with his double to right field.
