(CINCINNATI, OH) - Charlie Morton and the Pittsburgh Pirates shut out Cincinnati 5-0, halting the Reds’ five-game winning streak.
Morton fired a complete-game five-hitter to pick up his second career shutout and improve to 5-1 on the season.
Pedro Alvarez provided Morton with all of the offense he would need when he hit a three-run homer off Reds starter Bronson Arroyo.
Andrew McCutchen capped the scoring with a two-run shot off Arroyo in the seventh as Pittsburgh snapped a six-game losing streak.
Arroyo took the loss to fall to 4-3.
