(UNDATED) - In Major League Baseball, the San Diego Padres snapped a five-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Chase Headley broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI double in the eighth and later scored on an infield single by Ryan Ludwick. Brad Hawpe had earlier his a solo home run for San Diego.
Mat Latos allowed a run on six hits over eight innings, striking out seven to improve to 2-and-6.
Chris Carpenter went the distance for the Cardinals, giving up three runs on eight hits to fall to 1-and-5.
Lance Berkman drove in the lone St. Louis run with an RBI single in the first as the Cardinals had their four-game winning streak come to an end.
