(HOUSTON, TX) - Travis Wood provided both the pitching and the offense as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Houston Astros 6-1.
Wood put Cincinnati on the board in the top of the third when he hit a three-run home run off Houston starter Aneury Rodriguez.
Ramon Hernandez hit a two-run blast off Rodriguez in the fourth to give the reds a 5-0 lead.
Drew Stubbs closed out the scoring for Cincinnati with an RBI single in the sixth.
Wood lasted six and two-thirds innings, shutting out the Astros on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts to improve to 2-3.
Hunter Pence drove in the lone Houston run with a solo shot off reliever Logan Ondrusek in the eighth.
Rodriguez took the loss to fall to 0-1.
