(TRAVERSE CITY, MI) - Fort Wayne Concordia basketball player Austin Hatch remains in critical but stable condition in a Traverse City, Michigan hospital.
Hatch was injured in a plane crash on Friday that killed his father and stepmother. The father, Dr. Stephen Hatch, was the pilot of the plane.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash and a preliminary report is expected to be released within ten days.
The 16-year-old hatch is a junior-to-be at Concordia and recently accepted a scholarship to play collegiately at the University of Michigan.
It is the second time that hatch has survived a plane crash. A 2003 crash killed Hatch's mother and two siblings. His father was the pilot in that crash, as well.
Canterbury Basketball Coach Dan Kline said Sunday that the hospital had planned to bring hatch out of a medically-induced coma on Monday.
