(BALTIMORE, MD) - Chris Carpenter threw a complete game and the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Baltimore Orioles 5-1.
Carpenter allowed a run on seven hits to improve to 7-and-3 on the season.
Colby Rasmus gave St. Louis a lead it would not relinquish when he hit a two-run home run off Orioles starter Chris Jakubauskas in the second inning.
Skip Schumaker and David Freese added RBI singles while Nick Markakis drove in the lone Baltimore run with a double in the third.
Jakubauskas takes the loss to fall to 2-and-1.
