(TRAVERSE CITY, MI) - Fort Wayne Canterbury basketball player Austin Hatch remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition in Traverse City, Michigan following a plane crash last Friday.
The University of Michigan recruit was the lone survivor of the crash that took the life of his father and stepmother.
Michigan Basketball Coach John Beilein released a letter Wednesday thanking fans and university employees for their support of Hatch. Beilein says the NCAA is relaxing certain contact restrictions to accommodate Michigan coaches, but the school has not elaborated which restrictions are involved.
NCAA rules limit the amount of contact between college coaches and recruits and their families before the recruit signs a national letter of intent. Hatch made a verbal commitment to play for the Wolverines days before the crash.
The 16-year-old survived another plane crash in 2003. That crash took the lives of his mother and two siblings.
