(CINCINNATI, OH) - The Cincinnati Reds defeated the reeling Chicago Cubs, 8-2.
Johnny Gomes drove in four-runs for Cincinnati, including a three-run homer to left field in the fifth inning which gave the Reds a 7-2 lead.
Matt Garza allowed four-runs in four-innings pitched in his first start since late May.
The Cubs' grandest off-season acquisition went on the disabled list on May 21st because of a contusion on his right elbow.
