(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - If Frank Vogel is retained as Indiana Pacers head coach, he reportedly will have a different staff of assistants.
The Indianapolis Star reports on its website that Vogel met with Team President Larry Bird on Wednesday and that Bird and Team Owner Herb Simon would like more experienced assistant coaches.
Long-time assistant Dan Burke is expected to be retained while Jay DeFruscio, Walter McCarty and Vitaly Potapenko would not be a part of Vogel's staff.
According to the report, candidates to join the Pacers as assistant coaches include long-time Phil Jackson aide and Terre Haute native Frank Hamblin, former Bucks and Suns head coach Terry Porter and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant John-Blair Bickerstaff.
