(CHICAGO, IL) - Darwin Barney beat the throw home on Aramis Ramirez grounder to second in the eighth inning as the Chicago Cubs edged the Milwaukee Brewers 1-0 to snap a three-game skid.
Ryan Dempster, Jeff Samardzija and Carlos Marmol combined on the four-hit shutout.
Dempster went seven innings with Samardzija picking up the win in relief.
Milwaukee starter Randy Wolf threw seven shutout innings as well and did not figure in the decision with reliever Kameron Loe taking the loss as the Brewers had their three-game winning streak halted.
With the loss, the Brewers fall into a tie with idle St. Louis for the lead in the NL Central.
