(DETROIT, MI) - Justin Verlander fired a two-hit shutout as the Detroit Tigers blanked the cleveland Indians 4-0.
Verlander struck out twelve and walked one in going the route to improve to 8-3 on the year.
He held Cleveland hit less until Orlando Cabrera hit a solid single with one out in the eighth inning.
The Tigers scored three runs in the third and once more in the seventh with rookie outfielder Andy Dirks hitting a pair of RBI singles.
Justin Masterson pitched into the seventh for Cleveland, allowing two earned runs on seven hits as he drops to 5-5.
With the win, Detroit takes over first place in the AL Central by a game over the Indians.
