(CHICAGO, IL) - Bruce Chen pitched six effective innings and rookie Eric Hosmer homered as the Kansas City Royals took the rubber game of their series in Chicago, defeating the White Sox 4-1.
Jeff Francoeur drove in a pair of runs as the royals took a 4-0 lead in the sixth.
Chen got out of a bases-loaded, nobody-out jam in the bottom of the sixth, allowing only a bases-loaded walk to Adam Dunn for the Sox' lone run.
Chen gave up a run on four hits to improve to 5-2.
Chicago starter Edwin Jackson allowed all four Kansas City runs in his seven innings of work to get the loss, falling to 5-7.
