(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - It was a busy day for the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday.
On the day the NFL lockout was lifted, the team relinquished the rights to five restricted free agents, running back Mike Hart, defensive backs Jamie Silva and Mike Richardson and tight ends Tom Santi and Gijon Robinson.
Those five are now unrestricted free agents and are free to sign with any team.
The Colts could have issued one-year tenders to the restricted free agents which would give them the opportunity to match any offers they receive from other teams.
They did extend a tender to restricted free agent defensive lineman Eric Foster.
The Muncie Star Press reports that the Colts will sign free agent quarterback Nate Davis.
The former Ball State product was a fifth-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2009.
Davis reportedly will sign a two-year deal once signings are permitted on Friday evening.
The Colts were believed to be looking at backup quarterbacks due to Peyton Manning's recovery from offseason neck surgery.
Manning has said he will not be ready to participate in training camp when it opens on Monday.
The four-time league MVP also is not under contract.
He has yet to sign a one-year franchise tender that would pay him more than 23-million dollars this season.
The Colts are negotiating with Manning on a long-term deal that would reduce his hit on the salary cap.
