(CHICAGO, IL) - Alejandro De Aza’s home run in his first major league at bat of the season gave the Chicago White Sox a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
De Aza hit a two-run blast off Detroit starter Max Scherzer in the second inning to account for all of the Sox' offense.
De Aza was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte before the game to fill a roster spot after Chicago traded pitcher Edwin Jackson and infielder Mark Teahen.
John Danks pitched into the seventh, allowing a solo homer to Austin Jackson to improve to 4-8.
Scherzer took the loss to drop to 11-6.
