(CLEVELAND, OH) - Austin Kearns’ first home run of the season put Cleveland ahead to stay as the Indians defeated the New York Yankees 6-3.
Nick Swisher put New York up 2-0 with a two-run double in the top of the seventh but Shelley Duncan hit an RBI single and Kearns followed with his three-run shot off Yankees starter AJ Burnett.
Curtis Granderson got the Yankees to within a run with a homer off Vinnie Pestano in the top of the eighth but Carlos Santana responded with a two-run blast off Cory Wade in the bottom of the frame.
Cleveland starter Josh Timlin got the win to move to 10-4 while Burnett took the loss to fall to 8-7.
