(CHICAGO, IL) - Chicago closer Carlos Marmol could not hold a 2-0 lead as the Cubs fell to the Florida Marlins 6-3 at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs took the lead on a solo homer by Marlon Byrd in the second and Darwin Barney made it 2-0 when he was hit by a Steve Cishek pitch with the bases loaded in the seventh.
In the ninth, Marmol came on and walked Mike Stanton on four pitches, walked Mike Cameron on five pitches and walked John Buck on four pitches before giving up a go-ahead, three-run double to pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs.
Kerry wood and James Russell would get the Cubs out of the inning, but not before the Marlins scored three more runs to collect their sixth win in a row.
Marmol's line, zero innings pitched, five earned runs on one hit and four walks.
He took the loss to fall to 2-3.
