(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Peyton Manning is back on the Indianapolis Colts’ active roster.
The four-time NFL Most Valuable Player was activated off the physically unable to perform list as he continues to recover from off-season neck surgery.
According to a release from the team, Manning will be limited in practice and his practice work will be scripted.
Manning has two weeks to prepare before the Colts open the regular season September 11th against the Houston Texans in Houston.
The Colts have a short week to get ready for Thursday night's preseason finale in Cincinnati.
The Colts fell to 0-3 in the preseason with a 24-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers last Friday night at Lucas Oil Stadium.
One of the major focuses at practice this week will be getting quarterback Kerry Collins comfortable with the offense.
Collins was signed last week as insurance should Manning be unable to play in the regular season opener in Houston.
NFL teams have until Saturday to trim their rosters from 80 to the regular-season limit of 53 players.
The Colts made one roster move on Monday, signing defensive back Michael Hamlin while placing Cornelius Brown on the waived - injured list.
