(SOUTH BEND, IN) - Senior Dayne Crist will be the starter at quarterback when Notre Dame begins its season September 3rd against South Florida.
Irish head coach Brian Kelly announced his decision on Tuesday. Crist battled Tommy Rees for the job.
Crist was the starter last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury against Tulsa on October 30th.
Rees, who is entering his sophomore season, became the starter and led the Irish to four-straight wins, including a victory over Miami in the Sun Bowl.
Notre Dame was 4-5 under Crist last season.
