(CINCINNATI, OH) - Johnny Cueto made a pair of first-inning runs stand up as the Cincinnati Reds edged the Colorado Rockies 2-1 to split the four-game series.
Jay Bruce and Drew Stubbs had RBI singles in the first inning to give the Reds a 2-0 lead.
Cueto threw seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and walking two while striking out nine to move to 8-5 on the season.
Colorado got on the board in the ninth when Seth Smith led off the inning with a solo homer off Cincinnati closer Francisco Cordero.
Cordero would retire the next three Rockies to collect his 22nd save.
Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin took the loss to fall to 9-9.
