(ST. LOUIS, MO) - The Los Angeles Dodgers scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to get past the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1.
Lance Berkman gave the Redbirds a 1-0 lead in the second when he hit his 29th homer of the season.
Chris Carpenter held LA down for eight innings, but hit Juan Rivera with a pitch leading off the top of the ninth.
Carpenter was relieved at this point.
Arthur Rhodes struck out Andre Ethier and was relieved by Fernando Salas.
Salas gave up an RBI triple to Aaron Miles with Miles scoring the go-ahead run when he beat the throw home on Rod Barajas' grounder to short.
Milwaukee split a doubleheader in Pittsburgh, so the Cardinals are nine games behind the first-place Brewers in the NL Central.
