(BOSTON, MA) - Jacoby Ellsbury hit a two-out, solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Boston Red Sox edged the Cleveland Indians 4-3.
Boston led 2-0 in the fourth when Cleveland rookie Jason Kipnis hit a solo home run and Travis Hafner tied the game with an RBI double.
Boston regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Marco Scutaro's grounder allowed Ortiz to score.
The Indians tied the game at three in the top of the seventh when Eziquiel Carrera's ground-rule double scored Lonnie Chisenhall.
Cleveland reliever Joe Smith got the first two Red Sox out in the bottom of the ninth before Ellsbury drove an 0-1 pitch out of the park in center field.
With the loss, the Indians fall four games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central.
